New South Wales Premier BOB CARR says the secondment of one of the state's top policeofficers to his office will result in a more comprehensive approach to crime fighting.

Greater Hume Region Commander CLIVE SMALL will be seconded as an adviser to the director-generalof the premier's department on crime prevention issues from March 1.

Mr CARR says the decision to second Commander SMALL was based on his ability to tackleproblems in Cabramatta.

He says Commander SMALL will continue to work on Cabramatta and apply the same approachto other problem areas.
