It Is absurd that health experts are singling out the Maw Brooncookbook for criticism.
Surely these people have better things to do with their time thanlambasting something which has brought a smile to the face of so manypeople.
Apart from anything else, I would suggest this book is keepingalive many traditional recipes that are in danger of being lost inthis modern world of convenience food and ready meals.
Of course some of the book's recipes are high in fat and sugar. That is a reflection of the food that was the staple of a previousgeneration.
If someone was going to plan all their meals using this bookexclusively, then yes, there might be a risk of ill-health.
But people are no more going to do that than they are going to eatnothing but fast food burgers all their lives.
For an occasional treat and a bit of a laugh, there is nothingwrong with Maw Broon's recipes.
Experts who carp on about such a trivial issue run the risk of allof their pronouncements being dismissed out of hand as more PCnonsense.
