It may not cause one to tear up and break out the flag, but today is when we (women) were constitutionally given the right to vote.
Yep. It's Women's Suffrage Day.
It took a lot of work, a bucketload of guts and a strong constitution to endure the brickbats tossed at the suffragists who made it all happen.
But I'd like to credit New York Times columnist Gail Collins with resurrecting this marvelous vignette about how "ninety years ago this month, all eyes turned to Tennessee, the only state yet to ratify the" amendment.
