NSW: Racing authority reverses decision to close down tracks

Eight greyhound racing clubs in the bush have been given a new lease of life after
the Greyhound Racing Authority reversed its earlier decision to revoke their licences.

Country Labor MLC TONY KELLY claimed that eight clubs were to have their licences revoked
from January 1 as part of the authority's plan to rationalise racing tracks.

However, the authority has now announced it has reversed its decision after deciding
that cutting back on racing days, rather than tracks, are in the best interests of the
industry.

Mr KELLY says the findings mean clubs in Armidale, Albury, Coonabarabran, Kempsey,
Moree, Mudgee, Tamworth and Young will remain open.
