WA: Satellite technology to help track sharks along WA coast

In a world first .. tagged Great White sharks swimming along Perth's popular beaches
will trigger an alert by email or SMS to mobile phones to relevant authorities.

The West Australian government will use satellite receivers along the state's coast
to allow real-time tracking of the most feared creature in the ocean.

About 100 sharks will be tagged in a two-year study to measure the movements and migration
patterns of white pointers along the metropolitan coast.
